With broken hearts we announce the passing of Doreen Yakiwchuk at the age of 75. She passed away on Friday, September 25 at Park Manor Care Home, with her family by her side.
Doreen is survived by her husband Metro, and their four children: Susan (Mark); Allan (Cori); Barry (Angie); Tammy (Ian) and eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Daniel, Jordan, Christopher, Brooklynn, Collin, Boeden and Drake.
Doreen's life was exactly what she wanted it to be. She was a stay at home mom who devoted her life around her husband, children and grandchildren. She was known as Baba and would always attend every sports event, dance recital or music concert. She was their biggest fan. She was so proud of her grandchildren. Doreen also enjoyed camping, and music concerts. Her and Dad traditionally attended Dauphin Country Fest for 10 straight years and always danced the night away. Those concerts were Mom's ideal vacation. Our house was always filled with family and friends as she loved to entertain. The door was always open. Mom always looked forward to family celebrations she just loved listening to Dad play his guitar alongside their children and grandchildren. She was born in Minnedosa, MB and raised our family in Transcona. Mom and Dad would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on September 28. Mom thank you for all you have done for us. You have left us with rich lives and many amazing memories. We love you with all our hearts.
Thank you to the nurses and staff at Park Manor Care Home for taking care of Mom.
Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Alzheimer Society.

I got to know Doreen through Yakiwchuk parties and grandchildren's sporting events over the years. I always enjoyed sitting with Doreen and talking with her as she was such a positive force always excited to be there and glowing when talking about her children's, grandchildren's and family accomplishments. She enjoyed every minute of those events and it was a sincere honour to have gotten to know her. Sincere condolences to the entire Yakiwchuk family. - Posted by: Cindy Dawley Danko ((Allan's sister-inlaw)) on: Oct 12, 2020
