PEARL MURIEL THOMAS
Among those giving thanks for her life are her loving sons, Stephen and family in Winnipeg, and Daniel in New Westminster, BC. Also grieving her loss are those in her loving family: David and Cathie Phillips of Toronto, ON; Dorothy (Phillips) and Jack Reimer of Victoria, BC; and Don Phillips of Vancouver, BC; also, their nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins, as well as numerous friends in Canada and the USA. Pearl was predeceased by her loving husband Dennis in 1995; her mother, Hazel Phillips, in 1997; and her father, Kenneth Phillips, in 2001.
Pearl was born on August 21, 1950, in Eldoret, Kenya. Pearl's lifelong vision was to become a teacher. She received her Teaching Diploma at the University of Manitoba. Pearl realized her dream when she began to teach in the elementary school in Lac du Bonnet, and after her marriage, she taught in Selkirk.
Following her marriage to Dennis in 1973, they set up their home in Selkirk, Manitoba. She took pride and joy in her sons, Stephen and Daniel. Pearl treasured her 23 years of marriage to her beloved Dennis. After Dennis' death, she managed independently for another 25 years. Her sons, siblings, relatives and friends will remember her lovingly.
The family wishes to thank people who have cared for Pearl: those at Home Care of the Winnipeg Health Authority, the Nurse Next Door Home Care, Arlington Haus, Seven Oaks Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, and Grace Hospital.
Anyone wishing to donate in her memory may give to a charity of their choice.

Pearl and I both taught Kindergarten together in the 1970’s and even put on workshops together. She and Dennis welcomed me into their home, and followed me in prayer as my path led me to New Brunswick, Africa, and British Columbia. I only found out about her passing when my Christmas card to her came back marked deceased. Pearl will have Christmas with Jesus this year. I will miss my dear friend, but I rejoice that she is without pain and is free in Heaven. - Posted by: Rennie Roop (Teacher friend) on: Dec 18, 2020

2020 Has Taken Plenty Of Great Ones.. I Was Searching For A Phone # To My Former Spiritual Advisor Only This Time Learning God Has Called His Child Home This Decade. May She Obtain The Refuge From This Earth Like No Other In The Land Where Streets Of Made Of Gold & Into The Arms Of Christ, His Angels & Our Heavenly Father Immediately Upon Her Arrival. In My Dark Life & As A Child Of The Streets. This Earth Angel & Her Beloved Sons Took Me Into Their Blessed Home Almost After Sunday School. Those Were My Most Peaceful Times As My Young Life Was Hectic. We Fellowshipped, Shared Food Recipes, Wisdom, Plenty Of Scriptures Whilst Teaching Me Love, Gratitude & Humility. At Times...As A Young Mind, I Can Say I Wasn’t Always Receptive. However, In The Course Of My Life; Her Teachings, Kindness, Warmth & Smile Remained Omnipresent & Held A Continuity Of The Light I Was Blessed Enough To Receive As She Was My Introduction To The Word. Pearl Muriel Thomas Gave Me My Very First Bible, She Wrote Me Letters When I Was In The City & Took Me To The Library & The Gospel Chapel Whenever I Was Visiting Selkirk. She Is An Unforgettable Soul & Now A Beloved Ancestor. Respect, Honour & Love Always To Stephen & Daniel.. Also Anyone Else Who Had Encountered Her Glorious Energy & Incomparable Kindness.. May You All Remain Strong & Safe During at his Time. Pearl Muriel, My Almost Birthday Twin.. Teacher.. Mother.. Daughter.. Wife.. Child Of God.. I Love You. Thank You For EVERYTHING. Rest In Mercy. You Are Now Safe In His Hands. - Posted by: Windy (Student) on: Nov 17, 2020

When I first met Pearl back in April, I knew I was in the presence of a very special lady. Though I only knew her for a few months, her kindness and generous spirit always made me look forward to our visits. She would often share with me stories from her life, the troubles and the triumphs. I would always leave my time with Pearl feeling a positivity about life. She is a beautiful soul who will be sorely missed here on earth, but so obviously welcomed up in heaven. - Posted by: Brenda Martinussen (Nurse Next Door) on: Oct 05, 2020

I thank God that Pearl is not suffering any more. She is now with her Saviour of whom she worshipped and praised and spoke of so very much in her life. I will always remember her beautiful piano playing in church which i’m Sure she is doing now in heaven. She was a beautiful soul and a wonderful friend.
