JOAN HAWLEY JOHNSON
(nee OSTRANDER)

Our family is sad to announce the passing of Joan Hawley Johnson. Joan was born in Winnipeg on March 29, 1930, and passed away in Winnipeg on September 24, 2020, living her entire life in Manitoba.
Joan was predeceased by Bill, her loving husband of 64 years, and her sisters, Marilyn Fitzgibbons, Peggy Cutler and Diane Oliphant; her sister-in-law Milly McTavish; her brothers-in-law, Donald Cutler, Gordon McTavish and Allan Johnson.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Charles (Edith), Peter (Samantha), Leslie (John) and Pauline (Joseph); grandchildren, Kostan (Florbela), Bill, and Caitlin (Jarett); great-grandchildren, Montana, Amaya, Hayden, Fleur, Reis and Ieves; sister-in-law Gail Johnson, brother-in-law Gary Oliphant, and many nieces and nephews.
As her husband Bill did before her, her body has been donated, for the purposes of medical teaching and learning, to the University of Manitoba Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Human Anatomy and Cell Science, leaving a lasting legacy beyond her own personal life.
Joan was a strong woman. Fun-loving and feisty. She did not want a fuss, so there will be no service, at her request. Please keep the memory of her alive in your hearts.
Many thanks to the staff at Lions Manor for their care of Mom in this difficult time of Covid.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Siloam Mission, for whom she knitted many a scarf to keep a person warm in the cold of winter.
