CALVIN (KELLY) JACKSON
Mom and Dad originally lived in the Wolseley area, moving to Collegiate Street in St. James in 1954, where they lived for 60 years. He worked for Bristol Aerospace until 1956, then as Grounds Superintendent at CFB Winnipeg until his retirement in 1984. Dad was deeply involved in the St. James community. He volunteered for years in various capacities at Bourkevale Community Centre, and with minor hockey and baseball in St. James. He was a member of the St. James United Church and an Honorary Life Member of the United Church of Canada.
Family was important to Dad. He was involved in his children's lives and followed the activities of his grandchildren wherever they may be across Canada. He kept in close contact with his own siblings and their families, and regularly returned to his roots in Treherne and Tisdale.
Dad had few regrets and did most of what he wanted to do in his life. In retirement he continued to travel and expanded on his handyman work around the house, at the church, and for others. He enjoyed music, dancing, curling, golf and was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan.
Kelly passed away peacefully on September 27, 2020, three weeks short of his 97th birthday.
He is survived by his wife of over 72 years, Lorna, daughter Joan, sons, Buster and Scott, son-in-law Doug Buckingham, daughter-in-law Nathalie Houle, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He had a memorable life; he will be missed.
Kelly, may God care for you, as you did for us. A part of me went with you the day God called you home. - Love Lorna.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Jackson and family. Mr. Jackson was my first hockey coach at the Bourkevale Community Club. He was a close friend of my late father and we have stayed in touched over the years and I will miss our coffees and talks. He was a person I have always held in the highest regard. Sorry for your lost Joan and Buster. - Posted by: Terry Engstrom (Old friend and hockey player on Mr. Jackson's hockey team.) on: Nov 29, 2020

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Kelly - Kelly and Lorna were our first neighbors in Winnipeg, our first babysitters and always best friends. We left Winnipeg many years ago but our memories start with Kelly and Lorna - two very special people who showed us what a family meant and were the true definition of a good neighbor. Kelly and Lorna were a special couple that we were privileged to live beside when we purchased our house on Collegiate St. We felt welcomed immediately. When we were expecting our first child, Kelly made no secret that the previous family named one of their children after him. Although we didn't follow suit, it wasn't for lack of trying on his part. More than once, Kelly engaged me to play Santa for their family Christmas gathering. I could hear the questions from the other grown-ups, "Who did you find to be Santa?". In his typically humourous way, he offered that he hired someone from Manpower or Unemployment or...use your imagination. Kelly was a character. He will be missed. - Posted by: Kevin Abrahams (friend of family) on: Oct 11, 2020

I remember fondly of all the good times we had when we all lived in Winnipeg. There were 10 couples in our group and once a month we went out dancing and usually back to one of the places for coffee. Unknown what we were doing, we called our boys Kelly and Lorne. Shows how much of an impression that couple made on us!! God Bless!! - Posted by: Florence Lowry (friend) on: Oct 03, 2020

Kelly was a good friend and great help to my dad, Rex Catt, for many years. They used to bicker every football season on the relative merits of the Bombers and the Riders. He made my kids’ Christmas very special when he dressed up as Santa and brought gifts. My deepest sympathies to Lorna and family. - Posted by: Greg catt (Son of friend) on: Oct 03, 2020
