HUTCHINGS: Carol Lynn Hutchings (Van De Ponselle). It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Hutchings announces her passing after a short but hard fought battle with cancer, on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the age of 73. Born August 26, 1947 in Deloraine to the late Valere and Clemence Van De Ponseele. Growing up in Boissevain with surviving sister Janet (Nyel Fredrickson) and brother Keith Van De Ponseele (Barb). While taking her Psychiatric nursing she met Richard (Dick) Hutchings of Brandon, and were married in 1969 having just celebrated 51 years of marriage in April. Carol's first love was her family and she was the glue that held it together. She had two sons Robert (Debbie) and Dale (Cindy) and 5 grandchildren Shane, Mathew, Chelsea, Julia and Reid. There was never a sporting event or music concert that wouldn't have Grandma in the front row supporting the grandkids. Carol loved to cook and sew, travel and camping but is best known for her huge heart and would be first to volunteer for whatever needed to be done. She volunteered with Canadian Cancer Society for 25 years, volunteered at St. Augustine School and with the Canadian Federal Elections. Carol also loved dogs and taught obedience classes as well as attend dog shows winning many ribbons with her Miniature Schnauzer. After Dick retired in 2001 (Brandon Fire Department), Carol retired from her second love nursing in 2004 (starting at the old BMHC site and then the new CAP in Brandon). Carol and Dick purchased a trailer and did some traveling then finally having a seasonal spot at Pelican Lake. They spent many retirement winters in Arizona and then BC also meeting great people who they still call good friends. Carol (Mom/Grandma) will be greatly missed by all whom loved her. The family held a private grave side service on October 9, 2020 at the Brandon Municipal Cemetery.

HUTCHINGS: Mrs. Carol Lynn Hutchings (née Van De Ponseele) of Brandon, beloved wife of Richard (Dick), and dear mother of Robert (Debbie) and Dale (Cindy), passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the age of 73.
