BERTHOLET: Alice Cecile (Vodon) passed away on December 16, 2008 with her family by her side at Souris Health Centre. Alice was born on June 26, 1938 to the late Aldelard and Jeanne Vodon in Grande Clairiere. Alice grew up and attended school in the area until the age of fourteen when she took work with Ron Atkinson in Hartney. In 1956, Alice married Edward (Ebby) Bertholet in Grande Clairiere and first resided in Deleau. While in Deleau they had three children, Cindy, Gail and the late Matthew. In the early 1960s, Alice and Ebby moved to Hartney. A few years later, Alice began working at Louis Café. Then Alice took over running the restaurant at the hotel before moving on to Hartney Hospital and then to the Souris Hospital where she worked as a cook in Dietary until her retirement in 1998. She continued to cook and deliver meals in Hartney until the early fall of 2008. On December 1, 2008 Alice and Ebby were able to cherish their fifty-second wedding anniversary. Alice is survived by her husband, Ebby of Hartney, daughters Cindy Reynolds of Brandon and Gail (Brad) Wright of Virden. Grandchildren, Sheldon (Kathy) Reynolds, Darren (Bev) Reynolds, Richard (Chelsey) Underwood, Dusty Underwood, Hope (Mike) Reynolds, and Chad Wright. Great Grandchildren, Grace, Megan and Shane Reynolds, Hailey and Gabriel Underwood, Madison and Jordie Reynolds, Chloe and Corey Reynolds and Brayden Underwood; sisters Celina Bertholet, Lorraine (Dave) Duchack and Celine (Don) Cowan; brothers Wilfred (Virginia) Vodon, Rollie (Shannon) Vodon and Maurice (Barb) Vodon. Funeral Mass was held at St. Jean's Catholic Church in Grande Clairiere on December 20, 2008 by Father Raju Madanu and assisted by Deacon Wilfrid Barre. Pallbearers were all six grandsons. Interment was in the Grande Clairiere Cemetery. Arrangements were in care of Kowalchuk's Funeral Home. In memory of Alice, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
