HAWKINS: Mary Margaret Hawkins, passed away at her residence, Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home on Friday, January 9, 2009. Mary was born in Brandon on May 22, 1921, daughter of Henry Thomas and Bessie Grace Wright.She received her education at the Glen-Souris District School. At a dance in Rounthwaite, she met her future husband, Ken Hawkins and they were married on July 8, 1942, enjoying sixty-six years of marriage. Mary was the Phlebotomy Technician at Assiniboine Hospital and later Westman Regional Laboratory, where she retired after twenty-seven years. She loved her work there and was held in high regards by all staff. She and Ken enjoyed car rides, fishing trips and traveling. They spent many winters in Arizona and Texas. She is survived by her loving husband Ken and children: Lorraine Good, Allan Hawkins (Darlene) and John Hawkins (Fran). Grandchildren: Susan Gallinger (Michael), Ken Palen (Soraya), John Palen, Andrew Good (Erin), Darcy Hawkins (Dianne), Todd Hawkins (Patricia), Patti-Jo Burt (Jamie), Craig Hawkins (Nicolle) and great grandchildren: Leanna and Reid Good, Abigail Hawkins, Cody, Tyler and Grayson Hawkins, Tessa and Kayla Burt, Rayna and Hunter Hawkins. She also leaves a brother: Don Wright (Isabelle). Mary was predeceased by her brother Reginald Wright. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 1:30 pm. with Arlene Robertson of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Pallbearers were: Darcy Hawkins, Todd Hawkins, Craig Hawkins, Jamie Burt, Ken Palen and Andrew Good. Interment was in the Brandon Cemetery. Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Mary to the Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home, 930-26th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7B 2B8 or to a charity of choice.
