BRADFORD: The death of James Alvin "Jim" Bradford, occurred at Fairview Home, on Thursday, January 15, 2009. Jim was born in Winnipeg on May 23, 1947. He moved with his parents to California, then to Minnesota and finally returning to Winnipeg in 1963. After school, Jim worked as a cook and then as an orderly. He married Dorothy McManes in 1969. After several moves around Manitoba, Jim settled in Brandon. He worked as an orderly at theBrandon General Hospital and then bought Randolph's Cake Shop. He later sold the Cake Shop but continued his love of cooking by decorating numerous cakes for family and friends. 1n 1991, he retired due to his illness, but took on a new hobby, that of gardening and designing back yard landscapes and gardens. Their homes were always beautifully landscaped. Jim was a keen and active member of St. Augustine's Church. He also enjoyed hunting with the bow, muzzle-loader and rifle. Jim will be best remembered as the Santa at the Shoppers Mall and Town Centre. His passion for authenticity and the gentle ringing of his bells provided great joy to young children during the Christmas seasons. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy, daughter Kathleen and son Patrick; his father-in -law, Melvin McManes and brother-in-law; Don (Carol) McManes, Andrew (Holly), Hayley and Tyrin, Sara, Heather and Keith; sister-in -law, Patricia Ryan (Mike), David, Glen (Emily); sister- in-law Wendy (Rob) Belcher. He is also survived by a sister, Lynne (John) Tugby, Sean and Colleen and a cousin, Mary Halliday as well as the Harris family, numerous extended family and friends, especially Gary (Hope) Shotbolt. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Mary Bradford; his brother, Glenn Bradford; his mother-in-law, Margery McManes and brother-in-law, Glen McManes. Prayers were said at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, on Monday, January 19, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the church on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Celebrant was Fr. Dominic Yuen. Pallbearers were: Keith McManes, Andrew McManes, Markus Derrer, Maurice Perrault, John Camier and Ken McKenzie-Cochrane. Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
