WATSON: Douglas Earl (Feb. 2, 1937 Jan. 14, 2009). On Wednesday, January 14, 2009, Douglas Earl Watson passed away with family at his side at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Douglas is survived by his wife Diana of 47 years, daughter Wanda (Kevin) and granddaughter Mackenzie, daughter Jacquie and grandsons Tyler and Wyatt, sister Marcie of Brandon, brother Allen (Shirley) of Cypress River, brothers-in-law Ronald de Delley and family of Campbell River, B.C., Wayne (Diane) de Delley of Kamloops, B.C., Larry (Alice) de Delley of Brandon, Brian de Delley of Rapid City, sisters-in-law Marguerite Hamer of Brandon, Carol (Tony) Nesci of Langley, B.C., Pat (Jim) Calkin of Brandon, Linda de Delley of Brandon, Joyce Watson (Lorne) of Brandon and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents James and Hattie, brothers Victor, Gordon and Donald, sister Shirley, brothers-in-law Wally de Delley, Dennis de Delley sisters- in-law Margaret Watson, Betty de Delley, Dianne de Delley, parents-in-law Francis and Blanche de Delley. Doug was born in Gladstone, Manitoba on February 2, 1937. He attended school in Gladstone. Doug left school at an early age and helped his father on the farm. Doug left home and started working at Pool Elevators and various jobs. He then moved to Winnipeg in 1959 and worked for Giant Tire until 1966. It was during this time he met and married the love of his life, Diana Frances de Delley. They were married June 23, 1962 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They moved to Brandon where Doug enjoyed his career in the tire business spanning 49 years. Most recently with Sturgeon Tire. Doug was an avid hunter and he belonged to the Brandon Sno-Goers Snow Club and later joined the Pioneer Club. He loved to ski-doo in his younger years. He was an avid hunter for geese and ducks and later his passion was restoring old John Deere tractors and entering them in the Brandon Parade and the annual Pioneer tractor shows. Doug took pleasure in his family and friends. He was very proud of his grandchildren. They spent a lot of time together cruising the countryside, which he loved. The funeral service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Monday, January 19, 2009 with Mona Franklin officiating. Asia Rosa (nieces daughter), sang Amazing Grace and the eulogy was given by Joy Murray (niece). Writings were from daughters Wanda, Jacquie, granddaughter Mackenzie, grandsons Tyler and Wyatt. Pallbearers were daughter Jacquie Watson, grandson Tyler Watson, special friend Bruce Baker, nephews Brad Hamer and Bill Watson and nephews son Mitch Watson. Burial has taken place at Rosewood Memorial Gardens.
