COCKLE: George. On Wednesday, March 4, 2009, George Cockle of Whitecourt, Alberta, formerly of Brandon, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 years. George will always be loved and never forgotten by his sons and daughters and their families, James of Brandon, Manitoba, Gloria (Neil) Scott of Edson, George (Koralie) of Whitecourt and Debbie (Len) Gatey of Ladysmith, B.C; daughter-in-law, Beverly of Whitecourt; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jim, Rose, Elsie, Les, Larry, Doreen and Charles; numerous nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his wife, Val (1985); son, Roy (2005); grandson, Stephen; brothers, Eric, Dick, Raymond, Reg and sister, Joan Wall. George was an avid golfer, having two “holes in one” on his record. He put his heart and soul into his work as a Conservation Officer for the province of Manitoba. His green thumb produced an abundance of delicious tomatoes every fall. Reading was a favourite past time and George was often found enjoying a good book in his solarium. George wanting to be closer to his family had just moved to Whitecourt, Alberta. “May George Rest in Peace”Memorial service Sunday, March 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitecourt United Church with Reverend Les Halliwell officiating. Private inurnment in Brandon, Manitoba at a later date. Cremation in the Park Memorial Crematorium.
