FRASER: Elizabeth Warda (Meadows) passed away peacefully, her family at her side, at Fairview Home in Brandon on March 14, 2009 at 90 years of age. Mom was born May 28, 1918 on the home farm in the Odanah Municipality and spent her early years there. After finishing her Grade 12 in Minnedosa, she attended Brandon College and received her Bachelor of Arts. When the war started, Mom moved to Toronto to work for the Inspection Board and it was there that she met and married Ted in 1943. In 1945, they headed west and farmed near Minnedosa, eventually ending up back on the home farm. In 1960, Mom and Dad moved to Brandon so that Mom could return to college where she received her Education Degree. She taught school in Shilo, and at BCI in Brandon until retiring in 1970. At this time, Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling, Shrine activities, golfing and spending time with their family. Mom also enjoyed bowling and her bridge clubs. She will be sadly missed by her children: Jane (Michael) Hyduk, Harry (Pat) Fraser, Dianne (Brent) Singleton and Jo Ann (Rennie) Etches-Thiessen. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren: Kelly (Dave), Christopher, Katy, Danielle (April), Matthew, Brittany, Serena, and her great-grandchildren: Alexis, Spencer and Skyler. She is also survived by her sister Alixe Ryles of Brandon, and sisters-in-law Doris Meadows of Kenora and Rosalie Fraser of Cornwall, Ontario, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was predeceased by her husband Ted and an infant daughter, her parents Janey and Harry Meadows, an infant sister, her brother Murray Meadows and brothers-in-law Thomas Ryles and Alan Fraser, and niece Alison Ryles. As per Mom’s request, a private family service was held at graveside on March 17th. Donations in Mom's memory may be made to the Sun Fund for Kids.
