CAMPBELL: John Harley Campbell, late of Brandon, passed away suddenly at the age of 52 years. Born in Wawanesa and raised there and in Brandon, Harley graduated from Vincent Massey High School and later from Brandon University as a teacher. He went on to study athletic therapy and sports injury management at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. Harleys life passion was the game of hockey; he was a trainer and athletic therapist with the Brandon Wheat Kings on two different occasions. He was a goalie and later a goaltending coach with the Brandon University Bobcats. He played pro hockey and coached goaltenders with the Canberra Knights of the Australian Ice Hockey Federation. Harley taught in and later started his own goaltending school, touring across Western Canada and the North Western United States. He was also a therapist and goaltending coach with several Junior A hockey clubs including the Yorkton Terriers of the SJHL and Neepawa Natives of the MJHL. Harley was a kind, caring man who did so much for so many young people; anyone who wanted to work on their goaltending or weight training could count on his help. He was predeceased by his father John of Brandon, and his nephew Chad Campbell of Regina, SK. Harley passed away together with his mother, Shirley Campbell. He is survived by his brother Colin (Janis) of Regina Beach, Saskatchewan, nephew, Ryan Campbell, of Regina, Saskatchewan and Ryans mom Mona Campbell of Winnipeg. A joint Service of Remembrance with his mother Shirley will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. David Cathcart officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Wawanesa Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Friends so wishing may make donations, in Harleys memory, to KidSport Canada - Manitoba, 200 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4M2 (please make cheque payable to KidSport Canada-Manitoba) or a charity of their choice. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
