BRIDGEMAN: Robert “Ray” Bridgeman, (May 1, 1934 - November 13, 2008). Former Rivers resident Robert “Ray” Bridgeman, 74, died November 13, 2008, at his residence in Rideau Park Personal Care Home, Brandon, MB. Ray was born May 1, 1934 in the Lothair School District near Rivers, to Frank and Emily Bridgeman. He graduated from Rivers High School and received a Degree in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba. Ray worked on the family farm until he moved to Powell River in 1966 to work in the pulp mill. He returned home to work the family farm and raise Hereford cattle. He took an active part in community events and was always interested in activities of nephews and nieces and other family members. Due to ill health, Ray moved to Brandon, working in maintenance at Woolco and security at the University and the Department of Highways for several years. He remained a happy person with a great love for his family. He always enjoyed his visits with family and friends. His family will miss him greatly. He is survived by his brother, Grant (Sharon) of Ladysmith, BC; brother-in-law Doug (Ella) Younger of Rivers, MB and three nieces and two nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emily Bridgeman and his sister, Ella Younger. A graveside service will take place at the Ancrum Cemetery on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Curtis officiating.
