LOBB: Helen Lobb (née King) passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the age of 80 years. Helen was born to Mary and Abram Letkeman on November 2, 1928 in Morris, Manitoba, the youngest of eight children. She was the only child born in Canada. She grew up in Morris and met Willis King of Souris, Manitoba; they were married on May 15, 1948. To this union were born six children. Family was a very important part of her life. Helen had a great love for music. The whole family would sing at Victoria Park Lodge in Souris where she worked for many years. This was a family time to remember. Willis passed away August 29, 1970 after 22 years of marriage. Through many ups and downs, Helen managed to have the strength and courage to keep going, always kept a positive attitude and enjoyed life to the fullest. Helen moved to Brandon in 1973, where she took an accounting course at ACC. After she finished school, she was hired by CDC Home and Leisure as Charlie's favorite bookkeeper. While in Brandon, she met Jack Lobb and they were married in Rivers on August 6, 1977. This brought three more children into the family, Jim, Pauline and Birdie. Helen and Jack enjoyed 27 wonderful years together until Jack’s passing on December 1, 2004. Helen was active in many organizations over the years, Al-Anon, Eastern Star, 50 Plus Club, UCW and Rebekahs. She greatly enjoyed the fellowship of them all. Helen was an active member of Rivers United Church and loved taking her grandchildren to church on Sundays. In her later years, she spent many hours knitting, crocheting, watching curling and playing bingo. She also enjoyed any kind of bowling over the years whether it be 5-pin bowling, lawn bowling or carpet bowling. After Jack's passing, with the wonderful help of Home Care, her best friend Olive Johns’ daily visits, her caring neighbors, and all her family, Helen was able to stay in her home until December 2007. When she could no longer be by herself, she moved into the Riverdale Personal Care Home. Helen is survived by daughters Linda (Walter) Teetaert of Hartney, Manitoba, Pauline (Terry) Kuhn of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Birdie (Rick) Blackwood of Cochrane, Alberta, sons Randy of Rivers, Manitoba and Jim (Lois) Lobb of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, son-in-law Ron Runions of Rivers, Manitoba, and daughter-in-law Heather King of Vernon, BC, 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Henry, sisters Anna, Mary and Tina and husbands Willis and Jack, sons Denny and Norman, daughters Elaine and Kathy and grandson, Brent. The Funeral Service will be held at the Rivers United Church on Saturday, April 18, 2009 (today) at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiating. Interment will follow at the Rivers Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be grandchildren Stan Runions, Matthew King, Brian Teetaert, Steven Lobb, Lisa Varey and nephew Edward Letkeman. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen may be made to a charity of one’s choice. It's love that makes the sunny days a little brighter yet, It's love that makes our memories too precious to forget, It's love that makes our sorrows easier to bear, It's love that makes the joys of life so wonderful to share.Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
