FOREST: Michael Richard Forest - October 31, 1964 April 16, 2009. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son Michael at his residence in Brandon, Manitoba on April 16, 2009 due to a heart condition. Left to cherish his memory are his son Dylan (12), daughter Kyra (11), (Jan, their mother), parents Lionel and Pauline Forest, sister Lisa (Royce Rostecki), their son Logan , many aunts and uncles, cousins and the Kimery family. Michael was born in Edmonton, Alberta and moved to Winnipeg in 1972. He completed all his schooling in the Fort Richmond area and continued his studies at Red River College where he majored in Food Services. This led him to work in the restaurant and hospitality industry where he excelled and gained a measure of experience. Later he had a career change and worked in the field of food sales, at which he was very successful. He continued in this field and relocated to Brandon. After a period of time Michael made a life change and was employed at Behlen Industries. Michael had many interests: artistic, musical and his favourite, spending time outdoors. He loved to fish and whenever he fished he toasted the fish gods with a beer, which seemed to work quite well for him. Michael loved to go camping with his children and also joined them in Tae Kwon Do courses. He often could be found in the kitchen with Kyra making their favourite dishes, with Dylan over-looking. His children were his pride and joy and there was nothing he wouldnt do for them. Michael was an outgoing person who loved to help his friends in anyway he was needed. He had a special relationship with his sister Lisa, always caring and looking out for her. A long time buddy Phil Shuttleworth shared in many shenanigans and to this day remain good friends despite the separation of long distances. Michaels dearest friends in Brandon were Dennis and Cat Leslie. Michael loved both of them and their children. They were extremely important to him. His special lady was Glenda Gerry his Sunshine, whom he loved very much. He called her his Sunshine because she brightened up his days and made him very happy. The Forest family is very grateful to these friends because they helped make Michaels life a joy. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 29 at 11:00 am at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, with reception to follow. Private internment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of ones choice. Gone, but alive in our hearts and memories forever. Leclaire Brothers in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
