CAMERON: Bertha Kathleen (Wren) July 21, 1919 May 17, 2009. It is with great sadness, the family wishes to announce the passing of Bertha, with her family by her side at the Melita Health Centre. She was born on July 21, 1919 to Mark and Amelia (Duncan) Wren on the family farm and attended South Antler School. On November 25, 1939 she married Don Cameron, where they resided at Cameron Siding until they moved to Melita in 1949 at which time they build and ran Cameron and Wilson Farm Machinery Dealership. There, they raised four children, Sharon, Bev, Murray and Greg. Bertha enjoyed dances at Coulter and Antler in her early years and entertaining friends. She was active in the Melita United Church Choir, enjoyed painting, playing piano, curling, golfing and above all traveling with friends and family. She enjoyed the company of young people and was ready to embrace any new ideas or adventures. She was an enthusiastic supporter of all her childrens and grandchildrens many activities. She was instrumental in starting the Melita Figure Skating Club and held executive positions on numerous committees throughout the community. She was predeceased by her husband Don and parents Amelia and Mark Wren; sisters: Ida White (Harvey), Eva Cuthbert (Earl), Bernice Wren; brother Goldie Wren; sister-in-law Shirley Wren and son-in-law John Maher. Bertha is survived by one brother Doug Wren (Reston P.C.H.); one sister Barbara (Bert) Gallon of Vernon, B.C.; daughter Sharon Maher of North Vancouver and grandchildren: Desiree (Brian) LaCas of West Vancouver, Traci Maher of North Vancouver, Cameron Maher (Audrey Schertzing) of Birken, B.C. and Jennifer (Chris) Jones of North Vancouver and great grandchild Stephanie Lacas; daughter Bev (Jim) LeFrancois of Oakville, grandchildren: Jay (Marie) LeFrancois of Toronto; Chris LeFrancois (Patty Douglas) of Toronto, Jimmy LeFrancois of Toronto and Kara (Colin) Berrie of Burlington, ON; great grandchildren: Brennan, Jessie, Jayden, Maxwell and Marcus; son Murray (Donna) Cameron of Melita and grandchildren: Tara Cameron Tilokani (Jagdish) of Winnipeg; Dana Cameron Rae (Tramer) of Singapore; April Cameron of Calgary and Marla Cameron of Winnipeg; great grandchild, Seoul Tilokani; son Greg Cameron of Melita. A service to celebrate Berthas life will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 2:00 pm from the Victoria United Church, Melita, MB. with Jeri Bjornson officiating. Interment will follow at the Melita cemetery. Donations may be given to the Melita Health Centre Box 459 Melita, MB. R0M 1L0, or to the charity of your choice.
