CARLSON: Phyllis Elizabeth Carlson, November 23, 1924-May 15, 2009. Dear Mom, your love is a gift that will be cherished forever by your daughters and their families.Our wonderful mother, Phyllis Elizabeth Carlson (nee Muir), passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 in Edmonton, Alberta. Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Donna McKenzie (Lyle), Vancouver, B.C. and Judy Maynard (Dallas), St. Albert, Alberta. Grandma Carlson’s loving and gentle ways will live on through her grandchildren: Kim Lintern-Smith (Michael), Hong Kong, Kerri McKenzie (Vince), Kristopher McKenzie, Vancouver, B.C., Shayne Maynard (Carrie), Edmonton, Alberta and Leigh Ann Maynard, Los Angeles, CA. Phyllis was also blessed with 4 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Sasha, Madison and Dylan. Phyllis’ love reached beyond her immediate family and she will be fondly remembered by Geaneen, David, Amanda, Kathleen Bird, and Karen and Keith Hodges. Phyllis was born in the municipality of Bolton, Manitoba, daughter of Harrison and May Muir. She grew up on the family farm near Russell, Manitoba, with her 3 brothers and sister. Phyllis and her husband John Carlson were long time residents of Brandon, Manitoba where they raised their 2 daughters, Donna and Judy. Phyllis and John were active members of The Brandon Legion. They enjoyed their many friends and social gatherings at the Legion. Phyllis was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and was a very active volunteer for the Royal Canadian Legion. She was predeceased by her loving husband John in 1999 and two brothers, Gordon and Clifford Muir. She is survived by her brother George Muir (Russell) and sister Dorothy Moore (Brandon). After the passing of her husband John, Phyllis moved to St. Alberta, Alberta to live closer to family. Phyllis loved living in her condo in Mission Hill Village, St. Albert, Alberta and making so many wonderful new friends there. She lived an active retirement, enjoying friends, family times, cribbage, along with volunteer work. Phyllis was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. To know Phyllis, you were truly touched by an angel on earth. Her daughters took delight in hearing so many lovely comments over the years about their mother’s warm smile and heart. Her beautiful and loving disposition touched many people over her lifetime. Phyllis will be reunited with her late husband John in the Veteran’s Section of the Brandon Cemetery. At her request, a graveside service will be held in Brandon, Manitoba on May 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. “Her family will miss her dearly”Connelly-McKinley, St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Dr., St. Albert, Alberta, 780-458-2222.
