McCULLOCH: December 24, 1913 to May 23, 2009. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our precious mother Elsie Mary McCulloch on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Mom was born December 24, 1913 in Belmont, Manitoba to Eva and Aubrey Smith. Mom is survived by her children Larry (Alma), Bruce, and Judy (Brian) McKeown, her sister Helen Bell, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Aubrey, mother, Eva, brothers Jack, Jim, Albert, sister, Margaret, and her beloved husband of 51 years, Jim. Mom took great pride in providing a wonderful home for her family in many locations within Manitoba (Killarney, Altamont, Nesbitt, Rivers, Brandon). Mom and Dad returned to Killarney when Dad retired, and following Dads death, Mom spent her remaining years in Rivers. During our years at home, Mom quietly taught us the importance of family, friendship, and community. Once we were well established in school, Mom began to share with us her artistic talents through her beautiful painting and sketching. Her paintings grace the walls of our homes and those of many other family members and friends. Mom, we will miss your gracious presence, the twinkle in your eye, and your quiet but keen sense of humour that you shared with those closest to you. You are truly loved by all! The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors at Riverdale Personal Care Home, the Palliative Care volunteers, and especially Eleanor Madden for her support to Mom and our family over the past few years. Internment will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009, followed by a service in Moms memory at the Killarney United Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverdale Personal Care Home, P.O. Box 428, Rivers, Manitoba, R0K 1X0. Killarney Funeral Home in care of arrangements www.wheatlnd.com
