UNRAU: To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. (Ecclesiastics, Chapter 3, Verse 1).Safe in that belief, on June 6, 2009, Anne Unrau (nee Neufeld) of Souris, Manitoba left us to fulfill a greater purpose. Anne was born February 24, 1928, on the family farm near Boissevain. She was a quietly passionate woman who loved deeply and lived quickly. Anne was the consummate teacher and pursued her passion for education for over 30 years. She will be remembered by many for her intelligent, thoughtful, precise approach, for her strong sense of commitment, and for her simple compassion. Anne supported her family and those she was close to unconditionally. She loved her family well and was well loved in return. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Peter K. and Agatha Neufeld, her step-mother Margaret Neufeld and her brother Peter L. Neufeld. She is survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, John, their two children Bob (Judi) Unrau of Calgary and Joanne (Harold) Chornoboy, of Calgary as well as three sisters and one brother: Sarah (Jack) Shail, Jo (Stu) Nicol , Bets Engbrecht, and Jake (Ann) Neufeld. Anne was also the very proud grandmother of Kevin and Kayla Unrau, both of Edmonton and Scott Chornoboy, of Hilo, Hawaii and Reagan Chornoboy of Calgary. A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church in Souris, Manitoba with Reverend John Oldenkamp officiating. Following the service, a private family interment will take place at Souris and Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Church Memorial Fund, c/o St Paul’s United Church, Box 899 Souris, Manitoba, R0K 2C0.
