BROWN: After a long and very brave fight, Wilfred Russell Brown, beloved husband of Irene; loving father to Terry (Theresa), Maxine, and Murray (Tammy); and dear grandfather to Jennifer, Jaime, Alex and Noah, passed away on July 1, 2009 at the Assiniboine Centre in the presence of those he loved and who loved him so much. Wilf was born at the RM of Oakland on July 11,1920. Wilf loved the farm life, farming in the Carroll district for many years, including 23 years with his brother Norm. Wilf also played in a band with his brothers Art and Norm. He married Irene Richardson in October of 1959 and they enjoyed almost 50 years together, raising three children and later enjoying four grandchildren. Wilf and Irene retired to Brandon in 1989. Wilf was a kind and gentle man with a warm sense of humor who greatly valued time with family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and curling. He was also an animal lover. Wilf was predeceased by his parents, William and Emma; brothers Bert, Art, and Norm; sisters Myrtle and Ethel (in infancy). In addition to his family, Wilf is survived by his sister Annie; sisters-in-law Esther and Connie; as well as many nieces and nephews. The Ceremony to Celebrate Wilf's Life was held at Trinity United Church, 1515-6th Street, on Monday, July 6, 2009. Rev. Harvey Hurren officiated. The Eulogy was given by Theresa Brown. Pallbearers were Bill Granger, MarilynWilliams, Rick Brown, Doug Ardiel, Don Brown and Don Richardson. Interment was in the Carroll Cemetery. Dad left us a letter and he ended it with this quote: "This life for me is truly past, I loved you all to the very last, Weep not for me but courage take, And love one another for my sake."
