LETAIN: Cécile Letain, Nov. 22, 1915- July 11, 2009. Our cherished mother Cécile Letain (née Desjardins) was surrounded by members of her family, as she passed away peacefully at the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. She will be sadly missed by her children, André (Stephanie), Nanaimo, B.C., Joseph (Florence)- Laurier, Manitoba, Patrice (Anne)-Dauphin, Manitoba, Arthur (Ruth), Vernon, B.C., Adèle (Léon Boulet), Laurier, Manitoba, Raymond (Cathy), Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, Denis, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Frédéric (Vera), Dauphin, Manitoba, twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grand-child; daughter-in-law Claudette Letain of Winnipeg; Brothers Jean Léon Desjardins, Sparwood, B.C., Gérard Desjardins, Winnipeg, Manitoba, sister Thérèse Delaurier, Laurier, Manitoba. She was predeceased by her husband Albert (1987), sons Lionel (1981), Ernest (2006). Her parents Adèle (née Pelland) and Arthur Desjardins), eight brothers and four sisters. Cécile was born in Ste. Amélie, Manitoba, the seventh child in a family of 17. She married Albert Letain in 1935 and they settled in Laurier, Manitoba, where she was a busy homemaker raising her family of ten. When most of the children had left the nest, they moved to Brandon and Mom entered the work force at McKenzie Seeds. She loved her work there. In 1984, they retired to Laurier. Mom was a proud member of her church choir and she enjoyed re-uniting with old friends and relatives. She was especially pleased to be nearer her children and grandchildren. In 2003, due to failing health, she became a resident of the Dr. Gendreau Personal Care Home. Mom was very content at the centre as she loved being surrounded by people and interacting with the staff. She enjoyed the social activities. She seldom complained in spite of her ailing health. She looked forward to the weekly masses and especially the visits from her large family. In spite of the challenges she faced, she retained her unique sense of humor. She was a very special lady. We loved her dearly. May she rest in peace. The family would like to thank the staff at Dr. Gendreau Home for their special care and love for mom. Services will be held in Notre Dame des Victoires church, in Laurier, Manitoba. Prayers at 7:30 p.m. July 15, 2009. Funeral at 10:30 a.m. July 16, 2009. “ See You Later Alligator”
