DICKIE: Harvey Lyall Dickie of Minnedosa, MB, suddenly passed away at the Brandon ICU on July 4, 2009 with family by his side. He was born on August 5, 1932 to Douglas and Christina Dickie in Oakner, Manitoba. The family then moved to Brandon when he was eight years old. Harvey married Mary Osudar on May 22, 1961 in Brandon, Manitoba at St. George's Anglican Church. Their daughter, Bonnie Lynne, was born in 1968 to complete their family. He took his schooling in Brandon and then took a Radio & TV course by correspondence. Once the course was completed he acquired many friends, this was in the late fifties when Brandon received TV service. At an early age, Harvey went to work for the Canadian Pacific Railway starting in the shops and worked his way up to Mechanical Supervisor. He retired with 35 years service on June 17, 1987. He enjoyed working with the employees. Harvey joined Masonic Lodge Prince of Wales #14 in 1971. He held the position of Past Master and District Deputy Grand Master for two terms and was Secretary for several years. He joined Order of Eastern Star in May 1974 and remained a member for 35 years. He was Worthy Grand Patron from 1992-93 serving with Barbara McGregor in the "Harmony of Life Session." He served as General Grand Chapter on the Youth Committee in 1997-2000. In the 35 years as a member he served as Worthy Patron of Ruth's Chapter #15 for many, many terms and held other offices. Harvey enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, canoeing, woodworking and traveling, especially the trip to Australia and New Zealand to visit cousins. He had great interest with photography and computers. He was always fixing something, very mechanically inclined - our Mr. Fix It. He was a Blue Bomber fan. Harvey was predeceased by his parents Douglas and Christina Dickie, Marys parents Nellie and Simon Osudar, grandparents Christina and John Young, Jean and Charles Dickie, brothers- in-law John and Steve, nephew Jerry Wolsky and several cousins. Harvey is survived by his loving wife and soul mate Mary and daughter Bonnie and her husband Jamie. Brothers- in-law Matt and Bill Osudar. Sisters-in-law Kay, Lois and Emilia. Cousin Ken Delbridge and many nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention. His kind love, gentle manner and smile will be deeply missed. He gave us precious memories to hold forever in our hearts. Rest in peace. A family graveside service was held July 10, 2009 in Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
