FORSYTH: Peacefully on June 26, 2009, James Milton Forsyth passed away at Hillcrest Personal Care Home. Jim was born to James and Mary Forsyth on October 14th, 1921 at Pipestone and grew up on the family farm in the Reston district. Jim left the farm to join the army in 1942 and spent the next few years serving overseas during WW II. He met Jean Davidson of the Decker, Manitoba area when she came to teach in the Ewart one room school. They were married in 1947 and spent the next 62 years together. Their life was spent in Brandon where they raised their six children. Jim trained at the Brandon Mental Health Centre and graduated as a Psychiatric Nurse in 1950. He spent the next 36 years enjoying time spent with all the staff and patients. Jim retired in 1986 after a very satisfying and rewarding career. Jim spent his retirement years gardening, cooking, reading, and sharing time with his beloved grandchildren. He liked to watch many different sports on TV and hardly ever missed a good bonspiel or curling game. He was also a proud Legion member. He was predeceased by his parents James and Mary Forsyth, sister Lil Duncan, brothers John, Gordon and Alex Forsyth. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jean. Also left to mourn his passing are daughters Irene (Grant) Willis and granddaughters, Sherry Antonation and Karen (Jason) Ballingall, Marg Forsyth, and Linda (Glen) Bailey and grandsons Andrew and Robert of Oak Lake, and sons Bob (Donna) of Winnipeg and grandchildren Braden (Iliana) and Brandi, Brian (Helen) and grandchildren Brett and Ashley, and Brad (Elaine) of Swan River and granddaughters Marlee and Erica, also great-grandchildren Hannah, Marc, Jaylen, Alexa, Shane and Ryan. Jim is also survived by one sister Luella (Jim) Outhwaite and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service was held on July 3rd, at the Veterans Section of the Brandon Cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Chris Arthur (Legion Padre) with a Legion Honour Guard in attendance. All the grandchildren acted as urn bearers, a scripture reading was given by granddaughters Ashley and Marlee and Words of Remembrance by Linda Bailey.
