LOUGHEED: Lionel Archie Lougheed, born May 5, 1931, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, Wednesday July 15, 2009. Predeceased by his parents, Milton (1954) and Ina (1953) Lougheed, and his brother Bob in 1991. He leaves his brother James and sister Verona Sadler (Wlliam), sister-in-law Willa, his nieces Caroline Cox and her husband Rick and Shirley McBurney (Lawrence) and his nephew Steven Sadler, as well as great nieces and nephews. Raised in Elgin, Manitoba, Archie worked from a young age in a host of occupations, including trucking throughout the South West Manitoba region, and then retired in Brandon. He has been a long time volunteer of Samaritan House Ministries, receiving the Mayor’s award for volunteer service in 1997. He leaves behind many friends including Caroline Hay from his downtown community who will miss his mischievious humor and love of story telling. Archie will be missed, but there is comfort in knowing that he has found a bench to sit on and watch us from on high, with a Coke at the ready and a straw in his breast pocket. A memorial Service will be held at the Samaritan House Resource Centre at 630 Rosser, Friday July 24, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. A graveside service will be held in Elgin, Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.
