WRIGHT: Mable Harriet Wright (nee Ramsey) passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2008 at Kelowna General Hospital, Kelowna, BC after a long and courageous battle with lung disease. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Jeannie Ramsey and brother-in-law Harold Pollock. She’s survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Herb; daughter Barb (Al McAlister), son Barry (Mary Chouinard); grandchildren Kaley, Chad, Monica, Kit, and John Emmett; and brothers Bob (Dorothy) and Lyle (Helen); sister Gladys and many nieces and nephews. Mable was born on October 29, 1928 in Hamiota and was raised on the family farm. She received her Teacher's Certificate and taught at White Bank Lea School. She and Herb were married on December 29, 1952 in Brandon and honeymooned at Niagara Falls. They moved to Edmonton, AB and started their family. In 1958 the family moved to Red Deer, Alberta as Herb started working at Central Electric Wholesale. Red Deer was a great place to raise a family. There was a stop in Edmonton before Herb and Mable moved to Kelowna in 1982. Mable was an avid sportswomen, playing softball and curling, and she really enjoyed a good game of bridge playing weekly with "the girls". A service to celebrate Mable’s life will be held at the Oak River United Church, Oak River, MB, on Friday, July 31, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with interment following in the Hamiota Cemetery.
