DEMANSKI: Walter James Demanski passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, August 14, 2009. Walter was born on January 3, 1920 at Woodnorth, Manitoba. He was the eldest child of Henry and Minnie Demanski. He joined the Army and served until he was discharged for health reasons. In 1944, he met and married Sheila McCurdy, the only daughter of William and Dora McCurdy. They were married November 23, 1944 and would have celebratedtheir 65th anniversary this November. Walter and Sheila ran a dairy farm south of Brandon where they raised their two sons, Gary and Murray. After retiring from the dairy farm he drove a school bus for the Brandon School Division for a number of years. This was true enjoyment for him. Walter was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #3 and received his 35 year pin this year. He was also a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters. Walter is survived by wife Sheila; sons Gary (Jean) and Murray (Lynda); grandchildren:Janelle Hinchliffe, Jason, Terri Demanski, Stacey (Adam) Lernowich, and Ryan; six great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by one brother Carl; sisters: Nellie Pudlow, Jessie Haggerty, Bernice Luke and Lorraine Bailey. Henry was predeceased by parents Henry and Minnie; brothers: Stanley and John and brothers in law: William, Robert andMaurice McCurdy. A Celebration of Walter's Life was held Monday, August 17, 2009, at Memories Chapel with Mona Franklin officiating. A private family interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
