Edith grew up in Mountainside. She received her teachers certificate and taught school in Wassewa. After obtaining her stenographers degree she returned to Boissevain to take care of her ailing mother as her father had passed away when Edith was sixteen. Together they had four children Wes (Kerry) Dane, Brandon; Trudy (John) Dempsey, Lethbridge, Alberta; Sandy (Gary) Keeble, Brandon; Dennis (Katherine) Dane, Winnipeg. Edith had worked many years as bookkeeper at the Souris Motor Inn and Gordons Gulf. Always putting others ahead of herself, Edith was a giving wife, mother and friend. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary for numerous years putting in many volunteer hours. Family vacations and wintering in Texas with Lionel were some of her treasured memories as well as card games with friends and family. A private family service took place on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery. In memory of Edith, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
