BETTLE: Howard Myles. After a lengthy illness Howard Myles Bettle passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2009 at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home with his family by his side. Howard was born in Bloomfield, New Brunswick on March 20, 1938. His father, Mose Bettle died accidentally when Howard was eight years old. He was raised by his Grandmother and Aunt. He came to Brandon in 1958 and worked for Allied Van Lines before starting a career in masonry work at Brandon University where he worked on a number of buildings. He later became a partner in Cullen Masonry and his greatest achievement was doing the brick work on the new Central United Church. Howard always looked forward to the fishing trips up north. Later he worked for George Rey Crane & Rigging and then Jenco Ltd. His last brick laying was done at the home of Brent and Janet Campbell, the four corner posts on our lot at Campbell's Mobile Home Park and the gate posts at the Old Church Pottery and Gift. Predeceased by his mother, Helen Gailey, father-in-law Victor Cornish and brother-in-law Keith Chapman. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, son Jeff of Minnedosa, son Garry and wife Jette and granddaughter Mackenzie of Denmark; four half brothers and three half sisters, special aunt Lu Ganong and her family all of New Brunswick; mother-in-law Rena Cornish, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Morley and Faye Cornish and their daughter all of Rapid City; sister-in-law Jean Chapman of the Brandon Hills and her family. A time of fellowship will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Memories Chapel following a private interment at the Rapid City Cemetery.
