KICHAK: Wilma Marie, December 26, 1945 - October 2, 2009. Wilma said good-bye to her family on Friday, October 2, 2009 in Brandon's Assiniboine Centre. Wilma will be sadly missed by: her husband Bill; daughter Kim (John) Carter-Squire of Brandon, sons; Ken (Erica), of Winnipeg and Darren of Winnipeg. Grandchildren: Samantha, Cody, Paul, Jeremy, Kobe and Chelsea. Wilma also leaves behind sister, Elsie Turetski and sister-in-law Florence Makar as well as her extended family members. She was predeceased by her parents Basil and Anna, sisters Thelma and Nellie, brother Mike and brother-in-law's Peter and John. Wilma was born December 26, 1945 to Basiland Anna Makar in Inglis, Manitoba. At the age of five her father passed away and she was raised by her mother. Eventually leaving the farm to move to Grandview, Manitoba where she completed her education. Wilma met her one and only love, Bill, and married April 18th of 1964. Their family wasn't complete until Kim, Ken and Darren came along. Because of Bill's job they lived in various towns in northern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario, eventually settling in Atikokan, Ontario. Wilma then completed her hairdressing course and opened her own shop. In 1982, they moved to Brandon. Wilma was employed by Brandon University until she became ill. The Ceremony of Christian Burial of Wilma's life will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Dominic Yuen. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Wilma may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 9Z9 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 3 - 824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7.
