COCHRANE: Louella Mae. On October 11, 2009, Louella passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with family members at her side. Louella was born May 2, 1924 at Dinorwic, Ontario. She was one of a family of nine, born to William Wright and Katherine (Sullivan) Wright. Louella came to Elgin, Manitoba in 1949 with Rev. Lionel Rowe and family. On April 19, 1951 she married Eldon Cochrane. They had two children, Donald Lee born May 9, 1955 and Ruth Ann, born October 31, 1961. Eldon and Louella farmed in the Elgin area, and retired to Souris in 1979. While living in Souris, Louella made many close friendships. She moved to Brandon in December 2002, where she lived with her daughter Ruth until her passing. Louella was a very caring and loving mother and proud of her childrens accomplishments. She was a faithful member of the Anglican Church, and attended until her health failed her. Louella spent her leisure time crocheting, doing jig saw puzzles, and other hand work. At family gatherings you could always find her helping in the kitchen. She enjoyed having coffee with her family and friends and maintained a lasting friendship with the Rowe family. Louella was predeceased by her husband Eldon on February 7, 2001. She is survived by her two children, Donald who lives in Portage la Prairie and Ruth who lives in Brandon, two sisters, four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life was held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Kowlachuks Funeral Chapel in Souris, with the Rev. Mark Murray officiating. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Olympics Westman Region, P.O. Box 20149, Brandon, MB, R7A 6Y8.
