GURR: Lloyd Thomas Wilkie Gurr. Peacefully while surrounded by his family, at the Toronto General Hospital on Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 2:30 a.m., at the age of 26 years. Lloyd will be greatly missed by his brother, Mathew Gurr, his parents, Gaylene Higgs, and Ronald Gurr (Bev Weber), and by his girlfriend Sabrina Shaw, his Grampa, Bert Higgs and Grandma, Nancy Gurr, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and great cousins and of course his friends. Lloyd was predeceased by his grandmother, Irene Higgs and his grandfather, Alvin Gurr. Lloyd was born March 30, 1983 to Gaylene and Ron. His arrival was much anticipated and very welcomed. He was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) at 8 months of age and since then has spent his life fighting to survive but never fought to live. Lloyd lived life to the fullest at every turn. Those who knew him knew that he liked to enjoy each and every day and make the best of the time he had. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, sports and driving anything that was big and fast, talking on the phone until all hours of the night with his friends and most of all he enjoyed just hanging around with his friends and family. Lloyd never let CF rule his life. It was part of him but it did not keep him down. Wherever he went he brought smiles and giggles and warmed the heart of many. He will always be remembered for his humor and his wit and his love of life. Lloyd moved to Toronto in February 2009, to undergo a double lung and liver transplant. That transplant took place on August 30, 2009 and was a great success until he suffered a heart attack on September 11, 2009. Since then Lloyd was unable to continue to fight and due to complications the infections took over and took him from us far too soon. A Memorial Service will be held at Central United Church in Brandon, 327-8th Street at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009 followed by a reception at Central United. For those that wish to attend please know that in honor of Lloyd, the dress can be casual or western. Private interment to be held at a later date. If so desired, donations can be made to The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and would be appreciated as an expression of sympathy.
