BURDENIUK: Wasyl (William) Burdeniuk, (December 20, 1920 October 24, 2009). With great love and sadness we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, uncle and friend at Brandon Regional Health Centre on October 24, 2009 after a valiant battle with pneumonia. Bill was a beloved and devoted husband to Olive for 40 years until her passing on December 6, 1997. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Brenda and her partner Garth and Mary-Anne and her husband, Kevin. Proud, devoted and supportive grandfather to Jessica, Donald, Stefan and Peter. Fondly remembered by brother Matt and his wife Jean and uncle Bill to many nieces, nephews and their families. He will be sadly missed by many friends, neighbors and co-workers. He was predeceased by sisters Marlene, Emily, Nellie and brother John, also by his buddy of many years, Sam. Grandpa Bill was Donalds hockey buddy. Always at his hockey games and Jessicas Ukrainian dance. Grandpa was Jessicas date for Ukrainian dance competition at Russell and Yorkton. Grandpa really enjoyed the dancers. Bills hobbies were tilling gardens, fishing, hunting and gardening.The family would like to give our sincere thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Brandon Regional Health Centre and to all those who visited with Dad while in the hospital, especially Father Michael. A big thank you to Shawna Katcsma and Diane Rudniski for all their help. Prayers will be held at Brockie Donovan Funeral Chapel, 332 8 Street, on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Ukrainian Catholic Church, 927 Assiniboine Avenue, with Rev. Deacon Michael Strilec officiating. Interment to follow at Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Unit 3- 824- 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7 or to a charity of choice. Thank you dad for always remembering, for your humor and your laughter, and for sharing your incredible life stories.
