KLASSEN: Mary Klassen (née Peters) of Brandon, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her husband Jake (Jacob) and brother Bill Peters. She is survived by her children Henry (Judy), Harold (Catherine), Joyce (Raymond), Dorothy (William), Kenneth (Christine) and her grandchildren Laura (Kristjan), April (Brad), Bradley, Danielle, Eric, Brianna, Tegan and Nicholas. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters Helen Doell, Katie Klassen, Betty Aimoe, Eva (George) Giesbrecht, Susie (Peter) Thiessen, Peter (Elizabeth) Peters, Jake (Mary) Peters and sister-in-law Betty Peters. She was born June 1, 1922 near Aberdeen, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm near Swan Plain, SK, where she met and married Jake Klassen. They were married July 12, 1942 and moved to Manitoba eventually ending up in Brandon. After a life of working hard at various jobs, Mary spent her retirement with Jake enjoying her grandchildren, visiting relatives, walking and playing Bingo on Monday nights. A celebration of her life was held at the Central United Church on Monday, November 2, 2009. Interment was at the Sommerfelder Cemetery in Austin, MB beside her dear husband, Jake. Mary's family would like to thank the staff on units 200, 300, A3, Dr. Du Plooy, Dr. Carpenter, Dr. Tamayo at the BRHC and Tracy from Homecare for their loving and compassionate care.
