JANUSH: Phyllis Edith (nee Squires) widow of the late Joseph Janush passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at the age of 76 years. Phyllis was born February 28, 1933 to Percy and Dorothy Squires in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She attended Molesworth School and then moved to Brandon to find employment. Phyllis worked in Souris as a housekeeper and the Prince Edward Hotel in Brandon and then went to Minakie, Ontario to work at the lodge. Phyllis married Joe Janush on August 2, 1958 and together they raised their daughters. Phyllis with her husband Joe, operated a cattle and grain farm at Nesbitt, Manitoba. Phyllis was an avid bingo player and enjoyed playing the slots which she was very lucky at. She enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. Phyllis is survived by: daughters, Joyce Janush, Jo-Anne (Allan) Soder and Rhonda (Alan) Janush; grandchildren, Jennifer (Terrance) and Steven Soder, Nicole Benoit and Crystal Richardson. She is also survived by: sisters, Mae (Arnold) Schettler, Irene Lambourne, Gladys (Wayne) Gork; brother, Bill (Bella) Squires; brother-in-law, Jack (Freda) Gardiner; sisters-in-law, Bernice (John) Boyko and Gladys (Pete) Martine and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Phyllis was predeceased by: her husband Joe; her infant daughter Darlene Rose Janush; her parents Dorothy and Percy Squires; sisters, Joyce Squires and Mary Gardiner; brothers, Vernon and Walter (Yvonne) Squires; brothers-in-law Silas Lambourne and Mike Bilyk; In-laws Nellie and Joseph Janush; sisters-in-law, Darlene Janush and Marion Bilyk. The Funeral Service was held Friday, November 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North with Mona Franklin officiating. Pallbearers were: nephews, Blaine and Doug Schettler, Rick and Glen Lambourne, Darwin and Jason Gork. Interment was in the Brandon Cemetery.
