CLEGG: On November 22, 2009, God gently took Gladys Eliza Jane Clegg, at the age of 97, to be with him. Gladys left the world as peacefully as she had lived. She will be greatly missed by her: Husband Rollie, after being married 73 years ago in Binscarth. Daughter Faye (George) Brown; son Jim (Norma) Clegg; grandchildren: Leanne (Craig) Peel, Jana (Terry) Joseph, Brenda (Greg) Sturko, Belinda (Cliff) CarterSquire, Brad Clegg; great grandchildren: Lyndsi and Colin Peel, Teagan, Brady and Taryn Joseph, Aisha and James Sturko, Loretta and Gino CarterSquire, Conor and Larissa Clegg. Gladys lived her life at peace with the world. She was given the sense of humour that enabled her to laugh with everyone, often at herself, and never at others. She was always ready to become involved in community affairs and activities in the 57 years that she and Rollie lived on the farm at Arrow River. She enjoyed numerous trips with her husband through the years, but always seemed more excited when returning than when leaving. Time spent with her family and grandchildren seemed precious to her, always ready for a picnic, wiener roast or just a smudge in the evening. Cooking and making people feel welcome in her home was another of her gifts. No one ever left her house at meal time without having been well fed. After school lunches and scrambled egg sandwiches were a specialty. She took pleasure in many activities, but seemed to enjoy writing poetry, quilting, sewing, and knitting the most. Involvement with the Clegg Museum provided a lot of social activity both away and at home. She was a gracious host to all visitors. Her family were so very fortunate to have been blessed with such a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. Gladys will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers or cards, donations would be gratefully accepted by The Arrow River Cemetery Fund, Arrow River, Manitoba, R0M 2H0 or the Birch Lodge PCH Activity Fund, Hamiota, Manitoba, R0M 0T0. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date. Messages of condolence can be sent at campbellfuneralhome.ca. Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota in care of arrangements. (866) 620-2744.
