HALLATT: Kenneth Herbert "Ken" Hallatt beloved husband of Ida and dear father of David and Reid passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Ken was born on December 5, 1945 in Brandon, Manitoba, the third child of Arthur and Nora Hallatt. Ken's early education was completed in Brandon. Afterwards he studied at UND in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Upon completion of his formal education, Ken secured employment with the Manitoba Telephone System. Ken worked for MTS for many years in several areas including Winnipeg, Dauphin, Swan River and Brandon and in various capacities before retiring from the Engineering Department in Brandon in 1997. Following his retirement at MTS, Ken embarked on a second career as a school bus driver for the Brandon School Division. Due to health issues he was forced to retire in December, 2008. Throughout his lifetime, Ken belonged to many organizations such as the Lions Club, the Masons, the Grey Owl Estates Board of Directors and the Brandon Gun Club. Ken enjoyed downhill skiing, hunting, golfing, reading and history. Ken is survived by his wife Ida; son David (Heather Christianson) of Winnipeg; son Reid (Sophie Tremblay) of Ottawa; brother Douglas (Margaret) Hallatt of Naples, Florida; sister Noreen McLauchlan of Portage la Prairie; sister Barbara (Barry) Lindsay of Sherwood Park, Alberta; foster sisters Pat Pritschau and Shirley (Jack) Hutton, both of Brandon; sister- in-law Doreen (Bill) Trott of Minnedosa; sister-in-law Leona (Bill) Peters of Ottawa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Nora Hallatt; his father and mother- in-law Colin and Margaret Campbell, and his brother- in-law Henry McLauchlan. The funeral service was held at Memories Chapel in Brandon, Manitoba on Saturday, November 21, 2009 with Pastor Wil Warkentin officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Burton, Archie Campbell, Tab Dudley, Bob Johnson, RayStanley and Doug Wark. Urn bearer was David Hallatt. Donations in memory of Ken may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7M6, or to a charity of choice.
