GRIFFITHS: Gladys Helen Griffiths, October 10, 1913 - November 27, 2009. Gladys passed away peacefully at her residence, Hillcrest Nursing Home on November 27, 2009 at the age of 96. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Harold in January 2009. Gladys was born at Elva, MB to parents Walter and Margaret Holmes. The family later moved to the Lyleton area, where she attended school. In 1934 Gladys started work as a telephone operator and in 1942 she moved to Oak River to work. It was there she met Harold Griffiths. They were married in 1943 and in 2008 they celebrated their 65th anniversary. In 1966 Gladys and Harold retired from farming and moved to Brandon. In 2006 they both moved into the Hillcrest Nursing Home. Gladys is survived by her daughters Linda (Tony) Toews and Shirley Londry, her grandsons Doug Orr (Jan Black) and Denis Londry (Amy Lee) her nieces Jean (Tom) Bridgeman and Audrey Clark here in Manitoba as well as other nieces and nephews in Canada and England. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday December 5, 2009 at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, with Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiating. Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oak River Church, Oak River, Manitoba, R0K 1T0 or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Unit 3, 824 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7.Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com
