KRIPKY: Frances (née Ostapowich). It is with deep sorrow that we inform our family, friends and neighbors of the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother, Frances Kripky, on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Brandon Assiniboine Centre. Frances was born March 15, 1929 at Wynyard, Saskatchewan, daughter of Frank and Julia Ostapowich. She attended Harvard School and Wynyard School. In 1946, she graduated from Wynyard Business School. Frances worked as a clerk, legal receptionist and dental assistant. In 1953, she married Peter Kripky and they had one daughter, Gayle. The family moved from Saskatchewan to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba in 1969 and recently relocated to Brandon to be closer to family. An exceptional cook, Frances was noted for her many delicious dishes, especially apple pie and Christmas tarts. She had many talents – cooking, sewing, crocheting, painting, carpentry and her greatest passion, gardening. She spent many hours tending her rose garden. Frances also enjoyed sports, playing baseball as a young girl and later curling. Frances had a deep love for all her family. She was a loving wife, married to Peter for 56 years. A devoted mother, she chose to be a homemaker staying at home to raise her daughter. She spent many years caring for her ailing mother. Above all, her greatest pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Courtney and Madison. Frances (Baba) took great pleasure in attending their activities and celebrating their accomplishments. Baba was most definitely her granddaughters’ biggest fan. Frances had a knack of doing things that made everyone feel welcomed. She was a caring, compassionate woman, always willing to lend a helping hand, putting the needs of others before her own. Frances was predeceased by her parents Frank and Julia Ostapowich, infant sister Rose, brother Joe and sister-in-law Eileen, sister Helen and brother-in-law Pat Latoski. Frances leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband Peter, daughter Gayle and son-in-law Brent White, granddaughters Courtney and Madison, brother Anthony and sister-in-law Rose, as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends. She will be sadly missed. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. James Ahaneku as Celebrant. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frances may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, “Cancer Services”, 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3 or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Unit 3, 824 – 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. “A mother and grandmother’s love is forever – nothing can take it from you, for it lives in your heart and your memories and is part of all that you do.”Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
