McKENZIE: Irene (née Trowsdale) passed away peacefully on November 24, 2009 at the Souris Hospital at the age of 95. Irene was predeceased by her husband, Donald McKenzie, parents Arthur and Annie Eliza Trowsdale, brother, George Trowsdale, step-sister, Doris Cross and nephew, George Trowsdale Jr. Irene was born and raised in Brandon and lived most of her life here until March, 2009 when she moved to Souris. She received her Bachelor of Arts at Brandon College and then went to work at McKenzie Seeds. For many years she worked at Brandon Automobiles and Brandon City Hall where she was employed as a bookkeeper. The most important things to Mum were family and church. She was very involved with St. Mary's Anglican Church Womens Auxiliary in which she was a lifetime member. She was an avid traveler visiting several countries in Europe, Japan, Hawaii, Australia, Alaska and many parts of Canada. Mum's most pleasurable times were spent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a fantastic baker and would knit for hours on end. She also enjoyed socializing with friends by attending teas, luncheons, concerts and the symphony. She was a very loving, caring, compassionate and selfless person. Mum was very much a lady and we will miss her dearly. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Robins and son- in-law, Larry and daughter, Elaine McLean and son-in-law, Ian. She is also survived by grandchildren Chris (Deb) Robins, Craig (Cindy) Robins, Jodi (Jarrad) MacDougall, Ryan and Jennifer McLean and great grandchildren Brayden and Brodie Robins, Kayla and Andrea Robins and Brooklyn, twins, Liam and Ashlyn and Laila MacDougall, nieces, Elaine Rodenheiser (Trowsdale) and Denise Moore (Trowsdale). Last but not least, she will be greatly missed by her dear and devoted friend and traveling companion, Dorothy Broomhall.
