Mary FUNNELL

FUNNELL: Mary Alexandra Funnell passed away peacefully at the age of 82 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on November 29th, 2009. Mary was born on the family farm near Rapid City, Manitoba to George and Marion Greig on February 13th, 1927. She was the youngest of her two sisters, Bessie and Margaret. She attended school at Rapid City and later moved to Minnedosa. Mary worked at the local drug store; this is where she met Leonard Funnell whom she later married on November 12th, 1952. Mary and Leonard later moved to Brandon and raised three children, Linda, Gary and Donna. Mary was an exceptional homemaker, as she was a great cook, loved sewing and above all was an avid gardener. Mary loved the outdoors and she always enjoyed the company of a pet in the house. Mary worked at Valleyview Care Centre as well as Hillcrest Place for many years. Mary participated in the LWML of Grace Lutheran Church where she was a member since the 1960's. Mary was very proud of her grandchildren and was always happy to spend time with them. She was predeceased by her parents George and Marion Greig, husband Leonard, sister Bessie, and granddaughter Lindsay. She is survived by her sister Margaret Shanks, daughter Linda, son Gary (Dana), daughter Donna (Laurie) and grandchildren, Geoff Clark, Carson Funnell, Randy, Stacy and Jamie Cousin and extended family. The funeral service was held at Grace Lutheran Church, Friday December 4th 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers were Bud Haberman, Rick Linski, Bruce Pentney, Harvey Stanger, and grandchildren Randy, Stacy and Jamie Cousin.
