HUNTER: Glen E. "Rodney" Hunter of Grand Valley Road passed away on December 8, 2009 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. During his early years, Glen attended David Livingstone Elementary School, Earl Oxford Junior High and Neelin High School. After high school, Glen worked at Labatt's Brewery while farming at the same time. He left the Brewery to work fulltime on the family farm and continued until his health deteriorated in 2001. Glen loved the farm and the life associated with it. He respected the land and people who farmed alongside him. He especially enjoyed seeding and harvest time. Glen would spend many hours touring on country roads checking the crops. Glen was also an active member of the Sokol Hall and a member of the 180 Dart Club. He enjoyed many activities at the Sokol Hall whether it was the Grey Cup or Polka days. Glen was an avid baseball player in his younger years. Glen married Mimi Howitt and settled on the Hunter Farm on the Grand Valley Road. Together they raised three sons who were taught to respect and to be responsible for one another, and whatever they chose to do each day should make a positive difference in someone's life. The boys were very devoted to their parents. During the last years of Glen's life, Glen showed strength, courage and perseverance in dealing with his health. Glen is survived by his wife Mimi, sons Mark, Dean, Jeff (Dena). He will be greatly missed by his five grandsons, Brock, Patrick, Clint, Brett and Cash. "Pops" had a special place in his heart for his grandsons. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley (Al) MacLeod of Toronto, brother Lorne (Louise) of Brandon, sisters-in-law Dorothy Hunter of Virden, Jean Hunter of Souris, Diane (Don) Byers of Erickson and many nieces and nephews. Glen was predeceased by his parents, Dave and Dorothy Hunter, brothers Don Hunter of Souris, and KeithHunter of Virden. Glen will be tremendously missed by his family and many friends. In keeping with Glen's wishes, cremation has taken place. No funeral ceremony will be held.
