KINNEY: Clifford Roy Kinney, November 24, 1917 - December 12, 2009. With family at his side Cliff passed away peacefully at the Golden Prairie Nursing Home, Indian Head, Saskatchewan on December 12, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Brandon, Manitoba, on November 24, 1917. He attended school in Brookdale, Manitoba and farmed there until 1973. Dad took a special interest and leadership roles in all aspects of community life including church, school, and community club. It was there that he joined the Masonic Lodge in 1941. His community involvement continued in Indian Head where he added the Hospital Foundation, Indian Head Housing Authority, Meals on Wheels, and helping seniors attend to various medical appointments to his special interest list. He became a Shriner at age 85. In Indian Head he worked at the PFRA tree nursery as head gardener until his retirement. Dad was an avid golfer and curler. He loved family gatherings and loved to participate in the many family activities with his children and grandchildren. Cliff is survived by his children, Douglas (Gail), their children Garnet (Christina), Craig (Clare), and Brett (Krista); Ruth Clarkson (Dennis) and their son Devin; Grant Crookshanks (Helen Irwin) and their children Sarah and Rebecca; Neil Crookshanks ( Lee Ann Forsythe) and their children Dylan and Bree: and Lloyd Crookshanks (Lynn) and their children Jessica and Adam. He had three great grand children Cole, Catryn and Ryan Kinney as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary in 1964, his second wife Leila in 2001, and seven siblings. The funeral service will be held Monday, December 14, 2009 in St Andrew's United Church, Indian Head, Saskatchewan. The interment will be at the Brookdale Cemetery, Brookdale, Manitoba, Tuesday, December 15 at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
