FLEURY: Mary Nora Fleury of Brandon, Manitoba passed away December 15,2009 at Assiniboine Health Center at the age of 69. Nora (nick name Fafaan) was born January 13, 1940 to parents Jean Louis Fleury and Marie Josephine Ledoux. Nora was a member of Brandon Friendship Center and an active member of Grand Valley Local of the Manitoba Metis Federation. Nora participated, donated and gave freely her time to the many events that Grand Valley sponsored. Nora was a kind, generous and gentle person, who loved to laugh, visit, tell stories, joke around, listen to music and watch wrestling on T.V. Her favorite wrestlers were the midgets. Nora played and worked many bingos at the MMF and other community clubs in Brandon. Nora loved the Christmas and New Years season, she would buy gifts for every member of the family, a tradition she carried over from her mother .She would spend hours wrapping each gift and marking each person special name that she gave them. She was predeceased by her father Jean Louis Fleury, mother Marie Josephine Ledoux, brothers Joseph Fleury, Alfred Fleury, Elmer Fleury and William Fleury, sister Agnes Fleury , spouse Lawrence Grumbo and sons Dennis, Allan and Raymond. She leaves to morn her sons Francis, Andy, Frank, Lawrence, Gillis and Gilbert, her daughters Darlene, Marie Louise, 10 grandchildren , 7 great grandchildren, three sisters Cecile (Gordon Burroughs) of Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Verna DeMontigny (Harvey Pelletier) of Brandon, Manitoba, Yvonne Fleury (Brian Mark) of Moosomin Saskatchewan, brothers Jim Fleury, Mervin Fleury (Brandon, Manitoba), Lawrence Fleury (Gloria) and numerous nephews and nieces. The funeral service was held on December 21, 2009 at St. Josephs Church in Russell, Manitoba and interment at St. Madeleine Cemetery with Father Leo Fernandes officiating. Breandle Bruce from Russell, Manitoba were in care of funeral arrangements. Pallbearers were Vern DeMontigny, Kelvin DeMontigny, Steven DeMontigny, Brian Mark, Elvis DeMontigny and Terry Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Harvey Pelletier, Frank Fleury, Norville Fleury and all in attendance. Nora fought a courageous battle with cancer, anyone wishing to donate, may donate to the Cancer Society.
