BLAIR: Gerald Murray Blair went peacefully to be with the Lord at the age of 82, on December 16, 2009, at Carberry Plains District Health Centre. Gerald was born October 28, 1927 in Miami, Manitoba, youngest son of James and Joan Blair. At the age of 12 he moved to the farm south of Sidney, with his parents and younger sister Marion. Gerald took ownership of the Blair farm in 1947 and actively farmed until the late 1960's. He lived on the farm for 70 years, selling earlier this year and moving to Carberry. Gerald also worked for 28 years at the dept. of Natural Resources, retiring in 1986 as a maintainance supervisor. Gerald enjoyed curling in his younger years, he was an avid reader and loved to garden and grow things. In later years his garden was his pride and joy and he spent countless hours tending to it and sharing it with those he loved. Gerald was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Hector, Gordon, and Herbert; and his sister, Jesse Ludd. Gerald will be sadly missed by Edie; his beloved wife of 61 years, his children; Lynn (Al) Henry of Brandon, Terry (Judy) Blair of Carberry, Earl (Linda) Blair of Winnipeg, Mike (Bridget) Blair of Brandon, Glen (Pauline) Blair of Sidney, Debbie (Brian) Bolack of Portage La Prairie, Jamie (Joanne) Blair of Brandon, Vicki (John) Kula of Niagara Falls, Ontario, his sister Marion (George) Fiddler of Winnipeg, 29 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. A graveside service was held for the family at the Sidney Cemetery, followed by a service to celebrate Gerald's life at the Carberry Community Memorial Hall in Carberry. Services took place on December 21, 2009 with Pastor Will Feldbusch officiating. If friends so desire, a donation can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
