BOROTSIK: Iris Borotsik, formerly of Brandon, Manitoba was born on December 4, 1928 in Hamton, Saskatchewan. Iris passed away peacefully on January 20, 2010, at the Palliative Care Unit of the Brandon Regional Health Centre, at the age of 81. She attended school at the Oleskow School District for grades 1 to 8 and completed her high school years at Yorkton Collegiate in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. In 1950, Iris married Charles Kwiatkowski who passed away in 1991. They had four children: Beverly, Lynda, Garry, and Milton. Iris later enjoyed twenty- one years of happiness with her late husband, Donald (Danny) Borotsik. In her younger years up to the time of her passing, Iris enjoyed playing and watching softball and other sports, gardening, cooking and canning, playing cards, crocheting, berry picking, traveling, and spending time with family. Iris was known for her good sense of humor and even though she appeared to be quiet, she would always add a comment to keep everyone on their toes or to bring some laughter into their hearts. Iris was loving, caring, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Iris will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her four children: Beverly (Nestor) Leganchuk, Lynda (Stan) Ostafie, Garry (Denise) Kwiatkowski, and Milton Kwiatkowski; six grandchildren: Milton (Nicole) Leganchuk, Angelica (Curtis) Allum, Amanda Kimpinski (fiancé Jerid Laviolette), Meghan (Cameron) Rands, Christopher (Amanda) Kwiatkowski, and Candace Kwiatkowski; three great- grandchildren: Madison Kwiatkowski, Alexei Leganchuk, and Shane Allum.Also surviving is her brother, Ernie (Rose) Stefanuk, and her sister, Bonnie Cox, and brother-in-law Adolph Wolkoski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Iris was predeceased by her late husband, Donald Borotsik; her parents, Sam and Sadie Stefanuk; and her two sisters: Judy Wolkoski, Ann (Mike) Kowalyk, and brother-in-law, Les Cox. The Celebration of Life forIris was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Mona Franklin officiated. Organist was Neal Boyce, soloist Phil Wilk, and piper was Don Roy. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Milton Kwiatkowski, Milton Leganchuk, Cameron Rands, Brian Haluschak, Curtis Allum, and Mark Stefanuk. Donations in memory of Iris may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation, Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3J2.Expressions of sympathy may be made atwww.memorieschapel.com.
