BOAKE: After a long and courageous battle with cancer, John Jack Boake passed away peacefully at his residence with his family at his side on February 4, 2010. Jack was born October 6, 1947, first born son to Howard and Doreen Boake of Nesbitt, Manitoba. He received his schooling at Bertha School and then later at Wawanesa Collegiate. In his early days, he enjoyed school sports and continued with curling and baseball into his adult years. Jack has spent all of his 62 years on the farm. He loved nature and the beauty of the local countryside and spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and bird watching along the Souris River. Jack had a wonderful sense of humor and is fondly remembered for his laughter and jokes. Jack was a man with many interests and had no problem filling his day with work and play. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting rocks, restoring antique machinery, and reading. On July 26, 1975 he married Muriel Williamson of Belmont and they were blessed with three awesome children. Jack was predeceased by his Mom, Doreen in 2007. He is survived by his father Howard, his wife Muriel, children, Andrew (Jennifer), Heather and Trevor, Grandchildren Kayleigh and Addison, Brother Doug (Darlene), and many extended family members. Jack enjoyed 17 years as a Councilor for the R.M. of Riverside. He was a member of the Wawanesa Gun Club, Wawanesa Game and Fish, Killarney Flywheel Club, and Tiger Hills Ducks Unlimited. A celebration of Jacks life was held on Monday February 8, 2010 at the Willmor Funeral Chapel in Glenboro. According to Jacks wishes cremation has taken place and a family interment will take place at a later date. Memoriams may be made in Jacks memory to The New Cancer Treatment Centre 150 McTavish Ave. Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3 or to the Canadian Diabetes Association 727-B 10th St. Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4G7.
