DENEKA: Peter. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear husband and loving father on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the age of 83 years. He will forever remain in the memory and the hearts of his family, wife Verna, children Debbie Everett (Bernie), Gregory (Heather), Cyndi Solon(Paul) and Rodney. Grandchildren: Michael Deneka (Angela), Jennifer Everettand Sydney Deneka; great grandchildren: Jake and Jesse Deneka. Peter was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Deneka, sisters Helen Wilczylcko, Kay Desanko, brothers Walter and Johnny Deneka. Peter was born in Brandon on July 8, 1926. He grew up in the North end and attended David Livingstone School. He married Verna (Bellas) on July 15, 1951. They were married for 58 years. His first job was at the Brandon Woolen Mills until he obtained work painting bridges in Southwestern Manitoba and Saskatchewan for the C.P.R. After being on the road for many years, Peter decided it was time for a change. He became a paint supervisor at DND, Shilo until his retirement in 1983. Peter was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #3 and ANAF where he enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with friends. Peter liked to tinker and could fix anything and everything including cars, a knowledge which he eagerly shared with his sons. Peter had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren. With the birth of his only grandson, Michael, his water bill reached new heights with the many washings to Grandpa's car! Peter was his granddaughter Jennifer's greatest fan! He loved attending all her hockey and baseball games in all kinds of weather. Whenever his granddaughter Sydney came to visit from Beausejour she would rush into the house and they always greeted each other with a "hi ya" and a "gotcha" which made grandpa chuckle. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church will officiate.
