CZERKAWSKI: Walter J. Czerkawski of Brandon, passed away on April 7, 2010 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre at the age of 83 years. He is survived by wife, Josephine; sons Barrie (Desiree) and Brian; grandchildren Erin (Jon), Brandon, Logan and Lori. He was predeceased by daughter, Kathy. Also surviving are sister Helen (Phillip) Kozak; sisters-in-law Elsie Czerkawski, Sylvia Yablonski and Helen (Ed) Rainko and brother-in-law Mike Yablonski. Walter was born on September 9, 1926 at Pleasant Point Station, Manitoba. He moved to the family farm north of Brandon, where he received his education at Rugby and Bloomsbury schools. He married Josephine Yablonski on October 20, 1951. During his lifetime he worked for Federal Grain and Manitoba Pool Elevators, retiring in 1986. Walter enjoyed playing cribbage, curling, fishing, camping, attending Wheat King games and auction sales. He also loved traveling, driving country back roads and family gatherings. He was a lifetime member of the Sokol Club. Services were held on April 10, at Memories Chapel with interment at Brandon Cemetery.
