MACEY: Henriette (Jet) of Erickson, formerly of Onanole, Manitoba, beloved wife of John Ainslie passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Erickson District Health Center on April 22, 2010, at the age of 89. Henriette was born on September 09, 1920, in Hoogevaan, Netherlands to Lanbertus and Emilie Berdenis Van Berlekom. She met and married John Ainslie Macey on January 3, 1946, in De Bilt Holland and came to Canada on the Lady Nelson to Halifax in August 1946, then took the train to Winnipeg to meet her new husband and start their life together. They lived west of Onanole for a few years before settling on the farm at Clear Lake where together they raised four children: Richard, Joan, Olive and Joyce. She learned to speak fluent English and how to cook on a wood stove and keep the fire going in order to keep warm. She became a wonderful cook and all around farm wife. Jet was predeceased by her husband John in December 1977; her mother in February of 1978; her father in June of 1978; her sister Jeanette in September 2007; son Richard in May 2008; and her son-in-law Ernie in September 1994. Jet is survived by a brother Huibert Berdenis van Berlekom in Holland and three daughters: Joan of Erickson; Olive (Ron) of Chisholm, Alberta; Joyce of Erickson; and daughter-in-law Janyce of Minnedosa. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Rosa (Jim); Laurie (Kevin); Cheryl; Beverly (Len); Tom (Nikki); Stephen; Derek (Heather). Also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Declan; Cailey; Alex; Jen; Liam; Jackson; Jordon; Ace. The funeral services were held from Bethel Lutheran Church on April 26, 2010. With Rev. Mark Tiefenbach officiating. Interment took place at Bethel Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers were everyone in attendance.
