GRAY: It is with great sorrow Wallace Stanley Gray of Kenton passed away April 6th/2010 in the Hamiota hospital. On July 2, 1922 Wally was born on the family farm south of Harding. At the age of 11, Wally started taking violin lessons and by 14 he played for his first dance. He took grades 1-11 at Harding School. When war struck in 1939 Wally had to stay behind to look after the family farm. During this time Wally helped build the airplane hanger at Rivers. In the spring of 1942, Wally went to a dance in Oakner where he met Dora May Frances, soon to be the love of his life. The courtship lasted for 5 years before they were married on December 20, 1947 in Brandon, MB. Wally and Dora had 3 children, Judy, Don, and Murray. The next several years were spent working on the farm and raising their family. Also during that time Wally was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Harding Agricultural Society for over 20 years. They sold the family farm in the summer of 1977 and moved to Kenton. Wally started working at Lawlor & Strange (Ag Parts Dept) as a parts man for several years. Wally enjoyed his work and spent endless hours day and night to keep the farmers up and running. In this same period of time Wally was the treasurer of the Kenton and Shilo United Churches. In Wally’s retirement they enjoyed many family gatherings and outings with their children and grandchildren. Wally had many interests such as curling, fishing, camping and music. Wally enjoyed curling with the same teammates for over 40 years. Wally’s favorite fishing/golfing spot was Rossman Lake where they had a seasonal campsite for many years. His greatest passion was his love for music. Wally played music on numerous occasions for the enjoyment of others for over 73 years. Most recently enjoyed playing with wife Dora and friends at many seniors homes. Wally and Dora spent 33 wonderful years with their many friends in Kenton and surrounding areas. Health issues have forced them to recently move to the Lilac Residence in Hamiota where Dora resides today. Wally was predeceased by his parents and daughter Judy. Wally is sadly missed by his loving wife of 62 years Dora, sister Vi and family, son Don (Susan) and children, son Murray (Catherine) and children, son-in-law Brian Stewart and children, and sister- in-law Faye McMillan, and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family interment took place at Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Brandon, with a service following at Kenton Hall.  Arrangements were made by Campbell Funeral Home.  Jason Hodson provided a heart-warming memoir in the celebration of Wally's life.
